30 years of mega-projects vs. 18 months of AI

Welcome to the Edge

Hi Reader,

Welcome to all new subscribers! As there are so many of you now I thought I should introduce myself if you don’t know me yet.

I’ve spent the last three decades in the corporate world delivering major infrastructure projects. I know what it’s like to manage a $1B budget, a complex Scope Of Work, and the constant pressure of a board waiting for results.

In those 30 years, I’ve seen plenty of "revolutionary" technologies promised as silver bullets. Most of them ended up as expensive shelfware.

So, why did a Project Director and Lawyer like me start a company (Marsham Edge) dedicated to AI?

Because after diving deep into the code and the math, I realized that AI is currently in its "Wild West" phase. It’s being sold by people who understand algorithms, but don't understand how a Variation Order works, or what it means when a concrete pour is delayed by three days.

I’m Muriel, and I’m here to be the "adult in the room."

I’m an engineer and a lawyer, but I’m also a Machine Learning specialist. I’ve spent the last year helping organizations like transport authorities and energy firms build AI roadmaps that actually survive contact with reality.

A Gift for the "1,600" Milestone

To celebrate how fast this community is growing, I am releasing the internal framework I use at Marsham Edge: The Strategic Portfolio: PMO Commercial & Governance kit.

In the modern infrastructure landscape, failure is rarely technical, it is commercial. This kit contains the exact "Junior Subcontractor" logic I use to prevent AI from creating "Governance Debt" . It includes deep dives into how:

  • HS2 Rail resolved 100% of disputes without litigation .
  • Tideway avoided an estimated £120M in delay claims .
  • CrossWind Offshore saved €22M by slashing rework .

Access the Strategic Portfolio Kit here

I’ve priced this at $50 this week as a thank-you to my subscribers. Next week, the price moves to its standard $300.

Staying Ahead of the Curve

If you want to keep track of the latest AI innovations without the marketing hype, I also recommend visiting mytechradar.com. It is a free resource (no email required) designed to help you navigate the noise and see what’s actually moving the needle in tech.

What you can expect from this list:

  • Zero Fluff: I won't give you "10 generic prompts for productivity."
  • Project Rigor: I’ll show you how to treat AI like any other subcontractor (one that needs a very tight SOW).
  • Hybrid Intelligence: Lessons on using ML for things like time-series predictions and thermal safety in batteries.

I believe AI will either be your greatest asset or your worst liability. My goal is to make sure it’s the former.

Glad to have you here,

Muriel Demarcus CEO, Marsham Edge

Welcome To The Edge Marsham Edge's Newsletter Most AI tools don’t fail in obvious ways. They fail quietly. They work 95% of the time…And then break on the one case that actually matters. That’s the problem with edge cases. The illusion of “working” In most organisations, AI tools are tested like this: Does it generate a report? Does it summarise correctly? Does it produce a usable output? If the answer is “yes,” the tool is considered ready. But that’s not where the risk lives. The risk lives...

Welcome to The Edge Marsham Edge's Newsletter Most executives I speak to right now are stuck in what I call the PoC Lobby. Months are spent evaluating models, running pilots, and building “AI roadmaps”…Only to end up exactly where they started, with no measurable impact on delivery, cost, or speed. Are you stuck in the lobby? The assumption is that the technology isn’t ready. It is. The problem is execution. The uncomfortable reality Based on recent work across infrastructure and project-led...
